Well, 2009 was a busy year, running training for a huge variety of clients, from farmers who have found themselves under more and more pressure to formalise their quad bike training, through to government organisations requiring their operators to receive Off-Road Training to the highest standards possible.
It seems that throughout industry Lantra training is now the recognised standard, and as it is the government sector skills council for agriculture and rural skills, the HSE are also recommending Lantra certification more and more often.
In 2010, we hope to be doing more of the same, training HART teams, MOD staff and trainers, National Park rangers on quad bikes or in 4x4's. Things are already looking good with a big contract in the Lake District, and we're hoping to be able to run both quad bike and 4x4 training in Buckingham soon, at an excellent site just outside the town. Over 2009 we added a site in Essex to our already busy sites in South Wales, Cumbria and Ayrshire. We're also looking at sites in the north of Scotland (Aberdeen and Invernesshire) and the North East of England in order to be able to provide training within 2 hours travel of the whole of the UK.
Best wishes and safe riding and driving for 2010 from Beyond Driving.
Off Road Training and LANTRA 4x4 Training covering off-road vehicles, ATVs and Quad Bikes. Fully H&S compliant courses, including risk assessments, basic and advanced training.

4x4 and Quad Bike Training in Essex and Suffolk
Though we're normally based in the North-West of England at our main 4x4 Training venue in Cumbria, we also run off-road training in Ayrshire in Scotland and 4x4, ATV and Quad Training in South Wales.
We now have a new venue for 4x4 and Quad Bike Training on the Essex - Suffolk border. A fantastic site, covering many acres of woodland and disused sand excavation, with mud, grass and loose surfaces, axle twisting hazards, ruts, ditches, gulleys and some very steep hills. Everything we need from a venue in order to ensure that every candidate gets experience with the full range of techniques they might require during their working day.

Quad Bike Training
Quad Bike Training for ATV riders is offered by many training providers, with many certification schemes, including LANTRA, the NPTC (City and Guilds) and a whole host of smaller providers of recreational rider training including BORDA and EASI.
As far as professional operators are concerned, companies should only be looking at fully compliant Health and Safety Executive recommended courses. LANTRA and the NPTC are the only HSE recognised ATV qualifications as far as we know. There was a widely held view through the industry that the LANTRA certification (which previously needed renewing after 5 years) was more trouble than the old NPTC qualification which was externally assessed and was widely believed to last "forever".
However, with recent changes to legislation, and in order to comply with the PUWER recommendations for training, there is now recognition of a universal requirement for riders to be re-trained when their equipment (and it's operation) changes, or when legislation changes. In response to this, LANTRA have removed their 5 year limit on the duration of the certification, and the NPTC are recommending refresher training when necessary under the legislation.
The only real difference between the two is now the way that they are assessed and awarded. The NPTC certification is post-training, and is done by an external assessor, wheras the LANTRA course is an Integrated Training and Assessment course (ITA).
The advantage of the LANTRA course is that the certification assessment happens during the course, without the need for further time to be taken off work. This also means that the courses will tend to have a significantly lower cost to employers.
So if you are looking for ATV training for your quad bike riders, look no further than LANTRA ATV Training Provider - Beyond Driving.

Off Road Training for 4x4 and Quad Bikes
Off Road Training
Off Road Training for 4x4 drivers, Quad Bike riders and ATV operators is rapidly becoming essential for most companies. With many local and government organisations and authorities requiring riders and drivers to be certifified, there is no better time to ensure your staff have the relevant qualifications. Our fully compliant LANTRA Off Road Training courses will ensure that your staff have access to all of the sites you wish to work on. LANTRA and NPTC are the HSE recommended qualifications for operators and will ensure that there are no barriers to where you can work.
Unlike many training providers, all of our 4x4 training is carried out by fully qualified Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructors and LANTRA Approved Trainers. This ensures that your training is carried out both legally and to extremely high standards. For more information please have a look at our 4x4 Trainers Qualifications.
Our Quad Bike Training courses can be carried out on any suitable site, using your own machines in order to comply with all of the Health and Safety at Work regulations, specifically the PUWER training requirements. ATV training for sit-in vehicles such as argocats, polaris and mule vehicles can also be provided in both conventionally steered and skid steered wheeled and tracked ATVs.
Due to the experience and qualifications of our trainers, we will also provide on-road training for your 4x4 drivers, designed to reduce the impact of incidents and minimise your exposure to prosecution under some of the recent legislation surrounding driving for work. Unfortunately the majority of collisions and incidents with 4x4 vehicles occur on-road, so this should be considered an essential part of your 4x4 driver training.
